Delete your Valicai account
This page explains how to ask for the deletion of your Valicai account and the data linked to it. It applies to the Valicai app (app.valicai.mobile) on Android and iPhone.
How to do it
1. From the app (the fastest way)
- Open Valicai and sign in.
- Go to Account, then Delete account.
- Confirm your identity when asked. Deletion starts right away.
2. Without the app, by email
- Write to privacy@valicai.app from the email address of your account, with the subject "Delete account". We need this to check that the request is yours.
- We reply and delete the account within 30 days of the request, normally much sooner.
What is deleted
- your account (email, name, Google or Apple sign-in identifiers, password);
- your tracks and saved routes;
- expected-return alerts, including the emergency contact's details;
- your conversations with the AI assistant;
- notification tokens and sign-in sessions;
- if you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the authorisation with Apple.
What stays
- The reports you published about trail conditions stay visible with no link to you, because they help other hikers. If you want those deleted too, say so in your request, or write to privacy@valicai.app before deleting the account.
- Anonymous passage counts on trails, because they cannot be traced back to you.
- Data we must keep by law or to defend legal claims, only for as long as needed.
Timing
- From the app: the account, tracks and linked data are deleted from our systems right away.
- Backup copies: deleted data stays in backups until they rotate, at most about 5 weeks, then it disappears.
- AI assistant: conversation text is deleted from our systems with the account. At Anthropic, which provides the model, it stays at most 30 days (up to 2 years only if a message was flagged by the provider's safety systems).
- Server technical logs: expire on their own after 14 days.
